Lampito comes from Sparta, and while it was tempting to draw her showing up and just kicking some dude into a bottomless pit, I resisted the urge. Spartan women, historically, received the same education as men, and that included gym class. As a result, they were slightly more ripped than their counterparts elsewhere in the ancient world.

Aristophanes caricatured the Spartan accent in his original text, and the translation used in the Norton Anthology of Drama attempted to replicate this by using a cartoonish, vaguely Russian accent. Which is to say, if you were wondering why Lampito sounds like she’s trying to catch Moose and Squirrel, now you know.
