First off, bulimia is a terrible and serious disorder, and I don't mean to make light of it. This strip is actually entirely factual, and body image issues plague Byron for his entire life. He was terrified of growing overweight. A majority of his diet, as a result, consisted of dry biscuits and soda water, supplemented with white wine. On those rare occassions in which he'd indulge in meats and desserts, Byron would follow his meals with purging. Folks, do not be like Byron. This was not a healthy lifestyle.
And yes, Coleridge was seriously into him. And I quote: "His eyes [were] the open portals of the sun; things of light, and for light." Poor, sad Coleridge.
