Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century
The forest is suddenly awash with middle school poetry. Orlando has foresaken his bloodthirsty, dinner-stealing ways and decided to profess his love of Rosalind in rhyme. The way he goes about this, however, is kinda like when you’re a kid and you write a “secret admirer” note while privately hoping that your identity is never discovered. You love the girl sitting in front of you in math class, and you want to tell her as much, but you also don’t really want her to know it was you, because then everyone will probably laugh at you. In Orlando’s defense, his poetry was super bad, and I am laughing at him.
