Lysistrata (6)

Publication Date: November 24, 2014

Chapter: Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Literature

The women enact their plan with haste and take the Acropolis in a matter of minutes. Shortly thereafter, the men show up and are understandably upset - and this is before they learn about the whole “no more sex” thing.

The men’s master plan? Storm the Acropolis gates with torches like they’re going after Frankenstein. Killer plan, guys. The men are subsequently shocked to learn that their plan can be easily thwarted by buckets of water. With such master tacticians in their ranks, it’s easy to see why the Peloponnesian War last for almost thirty years.
