Chapter: Ancient Mediterranean and Near Eastern Literature

I was surprised to learn that “magnums” of wine are still a real thing. Ancient plays can be fun and educational! They are, however, smaller than I thought. I mean, it’s not even halfway up the scale of wine bottles, which I also learned was a real thing. These ladies should really be busting out an “imperial” of wine, or even a “nebuchadnezzar!”

Um, anyway, yeah. Sacrifice. Because oaths aren’t worth taking unless they’re blood oaths. The women have a hard time figuring out exactly which animal they should murder, so they decide to cut their losses and just pretend that the wine bottle is an animal instead. Good call.
