Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (7 of 20)
Publication Date: June 15, 2010
Chapter: English Literature During The Middle Ages
As Gawain prepares to set off on his journey, the book spends a while talking about what precisely he and his horse are wearing. In point of fact, Gawain gets so much shit piled onto him that I'm surprised his horse didn't just buckle and collapse to the ground. And make no mistake, for I'm not exagerating; there is quite literally two entire pages of descriptive paragraphs detailing exactly what Gawain is suited up in and what gifts he's been given by Arthur's court. I'm sure this level of detail is appreciated by medieval scholars. Personally, I find it rather boring, which explains why I just made something up for today's comic.
