Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (6 of 20)
Publication Date: June 14, 2010
Chapter: English Literature During The Middle Ages
So, I cheated a bit. This party actually took place on All Hallows Day, ie. All Saint's Day, ie. November 1st. But that wouldn't have been nearly as amusing.
That's the only cheat, though. The party itself was incredibly awkward. The text notes that everyone was just trying to make merry and have fun while simultaneously having to deal with Gawain riding off to his death the next day. As such, everyone tried to cheer Gawain up, but as my strip notes, it's kind of hard to be cheerful when you know a scary green asshole is gonna lop off your head in a couple months.
