Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century

Despite the translation into modern English, this comic is almost verbatim from the play itself, including the part about weasels sucking eggs. Is this another term that Shakespeare coined? If we interpret “meloncholy” as meaning “bad” in general, then we can further equate “a weasel sucking eggs” with said badness. Ergo, Shakespeare may have coined our modern slang usage of “sucks.”
