Sir Gawain and the Green Knight (17 of 20)
Publication Date: June 29, 2010
Chapter: English Literature During The Middle Ages
This is technically a combination of two semi-unrelated events. Earlier in the tale, Gawain was pouting at the Master's castle about not finding the Green Knight's chapel. The Master points out rather matter-of-factly that the chapel is only a couple miles away, thus implying that Gawain is a moron that couldn't find his own ass. Later on, the Master allows Gawain to take one of his men as a guide to the chapel, which I can only assume is a huge in-joke among the Master's court given how ridiculously close the chapel actually is.
Now that I think about it, if the Green Chapel is only two miles away, shouldn't the Master and the Green Knight be pals? I wonder if they have barbeques and poker nights together. Even better - community yard sale!
Alright, maybe not.
