Chapter: English Literature During The Middle Ages

Obviously, Pat Benatar makes everything better, including the aforementioned smackdown between Beowulf and Grendel. But seriously, I've read that fight scene several times, in a few different translations, and it always comes down to the same thing - nothing really happens. Grendel appears and promptly locks up with Beowulf, to use wrestling terminology. Of course, locking up is traditionally followed by some other moves, but Beowulf and the Big G just keep grappling for several lines before our studly proto-Conan rips off Grendel's arm like Jax in "Mortal Kombat 2."

Also, Grendel manages to eat a guy and chug down his blood before Beowulf finally decides to pop out of the shadows and fight. Nice timing, douchebag.

About The Comic

Lit Brick is a comic started by Jodie Troutman in an effort to read the entire Norton Anthology of English Literature. Having eventually succeeded in that goal, it now features comics about all manner of random literature. And yeah, they're all pretty dumb.
