Rip Van Winkle (1)

Publication Date: April 7, 2025

Chapter: American Literature, 1820 to 1865

If it feels like it’s been fifteen years since I started making this comic strip, it’s probably because it’s been fifteen years since I started making this comic strip. I was almost 27 and now I’m almost 42 and wow does that feel like a dramatic difference in my overall health. But this isn’t about my rapidly deteriorating body, it’s about Rip Van Winkle.

Rip Van Winkle is another of Washington Irving’s little ditties that was supposedly written by Diedrich Knickerbocker, a definitely-not-completely-made-up person who, had he lived today, would’ve been named “Diedrich Knicks” and probably would’ve had a terrible free throw percentage.

Author: Washington Irving • Year: 1819 • Info: Wikipedia
