Chapter: English Literature During The Romantic Period

Christabel isn't very observant. Geraldine suddenly gets all weak at the knees when crossing the threshold, so Christabel carries her across. Immediately afterwards, Geraldine pops back up, right as rain. This apparently references a tradition in which witches were unable to cross thresholds under their own power. I guess the lesson here is that Christabel should really be doing more research into these kind of things.
