As Macheath hides out in the wretched hive of scum and villainy, he's accosted by several floozies who are boasting about their criminal activities, presumably in an effort to win his cold, black heart. Personally, if a woman started telling me about all the horrible things she's done, I'd be a bit put off. (Actually, let's be honest, I'm pretty desperate. I'd probably still try to score a second date with the car thief / cat burglar / tax evader.)
