The Faerie Queene (14 of 14)
Publication Date: November 23, 2010
Chapter: English Literature in the Sixteenth Century
Late in the night, when everyone else in the castle is asleep, the lady of the house slips into Britomart's bed, hoping our hero wouldn't notice. Our hero obviously does, however, and battle ensues. Everyone finally figures out that Britomart is a woman, at which point she and Redcrosse barely escape with their lives as all the men come to defend their whore's honor. At this point, I'm fairly convinced that Spenser was (awesomely) insane.
