The Book of Margery Kempe (4 of 6)
Publication Date: August 31, 2010
Chapter: English Literature During The Middle Ages
I really wouldn't have spent this much time on Margery Kempe's stupid book, except I really like drawing Deirdre, Molly, and She-Jesus. Thus I'm dragging it out, pulling out a strip for every section of Margery's book that appears in the Norton.
In this particular installment, Jesus told Margery to pay a visit to our old friend Julian, another fairly crazy woman who claimed to have had visions. They hung out for a while and, of course, Julian only encouraged Margery's delusions. Julian also talked a lot about all sorts of Godly things while Margery sat and listened. It reads like the world's loneliest church, with Julian as the preacher and Margery as the church's only disciple. Anyway, Margery finally leaves crazy town and sets off on an even more epic journey, which we'll get to tomorrow.
