A Morbid Taste For Bones

The Brother Cadfael mysteries are kinda like Columbo, if Columbo was a monk in the middle ages.  It’s a pretty groovy time period to set a murder mystery in, really.  I’ve gotta check out more of them sometime.

You would enjoy/love the “Judge Dee” stories based on a real-life character in ancient China. He is (was) considered by many to be the first real detective.

Heh. Cadfiel actually tells people not to disturb the area where the body was found so that he can look for clues. And he has a complicated relationship with a cop (well under sheriff) who never seems to learn to just go with whatever he says. And the most obvious suspect usually turns out to be innocent. Very much like some modern detective serieses, but not that much like Columbo.

Oh, wow! Cadfael! ^_^ I loved those stories — but, Columbo? :p There are some significant differences in attitude between Columbo (one of my favourites among the Great Detectives) and Cadfael.
