So yeah, the spooky noise Christabel heard came from a rather suspicious young woman dressed in some skimpy finery. The woman (Geraldine) says she's on the run from bandits that kidnapped her, and Christabel - taking this story at face value - takes her home to the castle. Newsflash: Christabel is lacking in street smarts.
