Bertie

Bertie's Christmas Eve (4 of 4)

Publication Date: December 10, 2010

Chapter: Yuletide Jamboree

As noted before, part of Saki's appeal is the complete lack of redemption or morality at the end of his stories. His douchebag protagonists remain douchebag protagonists all the way until the conclusion, usually achieving victory at the expense of relatively kind, decent people. On one hand, it makes some of his stories sort of depressing, but on the other hand, it's a fairly realistic portrayal of the world at large.
