Hey, it’s an increasingly rare “donation” strip! Yay! Comics I get paid for are the best comics.
It goes without saying that “The Princess Bride” is brilliant. Goldman (who wrote both the original novel and the film’s screenplay and was also responsible for “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid”) is one of Hollywood’s all-time great screenwriters. That said, writing comedy about a comedy is exceedingly difficult. I’m not sure I was entirely successful, but it was fun to draw, so I don’t really care.
And now, a note about Lit Brick itself that may upset a few of you: starting Monday, I’ll be dropping it to a thrice-a-week schedule: Monday, Wednesday, Friday – you probably know the drill from a few other webcomics. Don’t take this as a sign of the strip’s impending demise: Lit Brick isn’t going anywhere. It’s just going to be update 40% less frequently. On the upside, I’ll probably try to make those three updates better, with less copy / pasting.
You can probably already figure out why I’m cutting the schedule a bit: there are other projects I wanna work on these days, and – love it though I may – LB seriously derails that process sometimes.
Another minor (okay, sort of major) change: when I draw new Delusionary State comics, they’ll run instead of Lit Brick itself, not on the weekends. Don’t hate me, it just works out better overall. So don’t be surprised if, every couple weeks, you get three DS strips on MWF instead of LB. It’s the only way I can keep that story (which I love) going without destroying Lit Brick all together. And fair warning: next week actually is one of those all-DS weeks. Plan accordingly.
So that’s that. If this makes you rather cross, I understand. It’s just something I have to do. But like I said, Lit Brick will not end. At least, not any time soon. It’ll just update a little less frequently. Thanks!

What’s The Worst That Could Happen™?
When I was 12, I won a free 16 oz. Dr. Pepper every day for a year… one free bottle at a time. Not kidding.
While personally, I rather quite enjoy Dr. Pepper, the extremely narrow range of sodas that I will actually drink makes it easy to identify with this, especially since I feel this way about Barq’s root beer.
Yes, William Goldman is an awesome writer (and his book “Adventures in the Screen Trade” is an excellent mix of writing advice and Hollywood gossip).
I have a vague memory from high school that liking the taste of Dr. Pepper is a single-gene trait, but all I could find in a quick PubMed search was:
Am J Emerg Med. 1997 Jan;15(1):108-11.
“Flaming Dr. Pepper”–another cause of recreational burn injury.
It is poison. I once drank a two-year expired Diet Dr. Pepper and all I could taste was the carbonic acid. Now all Dr. Pepper tastes like acid. The real quesiton then is, why do I keep drinking it. Perhaps to build tolerance in case I ever need to challenge my love’s kidnapper to a deathly battle of wits.
Regarding the schedule, it kind of is disappointing that Litbrick will come less frequently, but it is a more than fair tradeoff for more quality, ease on you, and also it isn’t as if I don’t love DS just as much. It seems to be the best arrangement especially long-term, as much as I adored the daily updates. It must’ve been taxing.
The mysterious 23rd ingredient in Dr Pepper? That’s right! Iocaine powder!
I only have one question… Do you actually dislike Dr. Pepper or did you just pick a soda at random? I’d say Mountain Dew probably looks the most like poison, but gosh darn it I love it anyway.
I really dislike it. Dr. Pepper is the only soda that leaves me with a strange aftertaste and – for some reason – does strange things to my sinuses.
Inconceivable!
That was great! I _knew_ there was something seriously wrong with Dr. Pepper!
While i am sad regarding the decrease in total litbrick/week, i am happy to see DS get some love
keep up the awesome work though! love the strips
Before I got to the third panel, I thought maybe it was going to go in a “Mr. Pibb” direction. Then I remembered that it’s “Pibb Xtra” in the stores now.
Fortunately, then I remembered to finish reading the strip!
