Long-time readers may recall that both Molly and myself aren’t really Anne McCaffrey’s biggest fans. Indeed, the original commentary that went with that comic apparently made me some enemies. I forgot that having a different opinion than someone else on the internet was a crime. In any event, given that “Dragonflight” became one of Lit Brick’s most infamous strips, I thought that marking this occasion was appropriate. Hey, I may not have liked her books, but McCaffrey was a giant in the field.

Why is this always how I find out these things??????
Also,
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
I read a few of the books – liked them, but it was always took me until halfway through her novels to actually get into them…
I didn’t enjoy the Pern series either. When looking for enjoyable fantasy I always return to the Death Gate Cycle series.
Having a different opinion on the internet is not a crime but it will both lose and gain you viewers (as I’m sure you know). But if you sold out and changed your opinions to gain fans that would be shameful. So keep pissing off people; I still enjoy your comics even when I disagree with the content.
… Erm, admitting to the fandom here… She turned Pern over to her son, so we may yet get more of them. But her imagination and (I guess debatable) talent will be missed.
Also, I love this strip, not in the least because I used that exact line on a friend.
Awww, I’m so glad you wrote this strip cuz I would have had no idea.
Also your use of beat panels in this is fantastic.
Well, I loved said infamous strip! But yes, it’s always a shame when a good author dies.
I also loved that strip – just not the commentary.
Anne McCaffrey is dead? That’s a terrible shame. I may not have liked all of her Pern series, but most of it was fun to read.
I guess that the Pern series isn’t to everyone’s taste but Anne McCaffrey was a talented author who wrote in other genres as well. I can thank her for many enjoyable hours!
Oh. Sad. I’ve always liked Mccaffery.
Oops, I didn’t realise that my request had greased your path down the slippery slope of infamy. My bad. (I regret nothing!
